New FlushCut consumables for the Powermax105 and Powermax125 air plasma systems

Hypertherm has announced the release of FlushCut consumables for select Powermax air plasma systems. Available for Powermax105 and 125 systems, the consumables provide users with the ability to cut closer to base materials than ever before. Close cutting applications such as lug and attachment removal are typically done using oxyfuel, carbon arc gouging, or traditional plasma cutting tools. The new Powermax flush cutting process now offers a more efficient process for these operations.

FlushCut consumables feature an angled nozzle bore that delivers the plasma arc at a 45 degree angle ideal for challenging removal applications. Instead of locating the nozzle opening at the tip as is typically done, the FlushCut nozzle orifice is located on the side. This essentially bends the plasma arc, causing it to exit the torch at an angle nearly parallel to the workpiece. As a result, Powermax users can cut closer, or more flush, to the base metal than ever before, significantly reducing grinding work and increasing the opportunity to reuse lugs and attachments.

The new flush cutting process is helpful for a number of applications including jobs that require the separation of two metals. Some typical flush cutting applications include:

  • Removing lugs, pad eyes and temporary weld supports
  • Material washing
  • End cap removal
  • Rat hole cuts in I and H beams
  • Bolt and rivet washing
  • Casting sprue removal
  • Post tension cable tail cuts
  • Wearable part removal/replacement

As well as being versatile, flush cutting will also increase productivity

  • Heat affected zone (HAZ) associated with flush cutting is approximately ten times less than that of oxyfuel allowing you to cut closer to the base material
  • Less overall pre-processing time (e.g. no gas setting, purging or preheating) than oxyfuel
  • Remove lugs and attachments in a single pass compared to carbon arc gouging which requires multiple passes and additional time
  • The guiding flat on the shield helps operators avoid digging into the base plate, reducing the need for costly, time consuming repairs

Trucut is excited to provide this new innovative line from Hypertherm especially designed to help customers address challenging metal cutting and removal applications. Trucut stocks the full range of FlushCut consumables for both the Powermax105 and Powermax125 and are happy to answer any questions, please contact us for any more information.
