The new HPR cartridge for HPRXD systems

The new Hypertherm HPR cartridge replaces the standard electrode, nozzle, shield, swirl ring and nozzle retainer, combining them into one quick-change cartridge. Increase productivity with faster consumable changeover and reduced training time. This cartridge is available to all HPRXD systems and will connect directly into the standard recepticle. This revolutionary change dramatically simplifies plasma cutting, streamlines inventory and eliminates costly stack-up errors.

How long does the cartridge last?

Although there are a lot of factors that impact consumable life, extensive testing and trials with real customers has shown that the cartridge lasts at least two times longer compared to our standard copper electrode and approximately 25 percent longer when using a SilverPlus electrode. This is because all components within the cartridge are perfectly aligned during the manufacturing process and the operator is starting with all new components every time.

When using a traditional five-piece stack-up, one or more of the five pieces can be slightly misaligned since the stack-up is assembled by hand. Also, you are rarely starting with five entirely new parts since the pieces wear at different rates and are most often changed out at different times. These things all impact consumable life.
